Innovation as Differentiation

Today is a short one. What if school reform, or school innovation or even school improvement was centered around successful interventions that valued the difference between students? What if our current structure demands too much standardization of curriculum and tests? What if students state their outcomes, educators propel students forward to reach those outcomes, and what if assessments proved their success!

What if we designed every school to intervene with every student? Every student would get an IEP and then, let’s propel them forward to succeed in our world. What if innovation was redefined as differentiation? Let’s celebrate what our students know, but really work on what they don’t know as the successful work of schools!
