Winnacunnet PILOT

A Teacher-Centered Evidence Model

SchoolWorks is exploring a pilot with educators at Winnacunnet High School in New Hampshire. The proposed work would examine how teachers can capture and interpret evidence of developing understanding alongside existing assignments, examinations and accountability requirements.

The model is intentionally teacher-centered: Pathfinder would organize evidence and identify patterns, while teachers would remain responsible for educational judgments.

Current stage: Partnership and pilot development.

The Winnacunnet pilot allows us to investigate whether Pathfinder can support teachers without requiring students to adopt another digital platform.

This creates an important research question: How little technology is actually necessary to make learning evidence more useful?

The model emphasizes the teacher’s ability to capture and examine meaningful evidence while maintaining existing classroom practices and systems.

The high-school context also allows us to explore the relationship between rich learning evidence and existing requirements for curriculum, assessment, and accountability.

What We Are Investigating:

Can a teacher-centered evidence model work without requiring additional student devices or logins?

Can evidence collected during ordinary instruction support stronger professional judgment?

Can longitudinal evidence complement required assessments rather than compete with them?

Can the approach scale while remaining manageable for teachers?

Research Focus: Teacher Workload • Professional Judgment • Interoperability • Learning Patterns
